Honda Vehicles Top the List in Cars.com 2022 Rankings

Honda, one of the world’s leading automakers, headed the list of Cars.com’s 2022 American-Made Index, having placed four of its vehicles in the top 10 including the Honda Pilot, Passport, Ridgeline, and Odyssey. All four are manufactured at Honda’s Lincoln, Alabama facility.

America’s Most Prolific Foreign Carmaker

Honda has produced more than 29 million cars and light trucks in the United States over the past 40 years. Today, Honda operates five manufacturing plants in the U.S., more than any other international automaker, having begun U.S. production in Marysville, Ohio.
The Honda Pilot, which came in at number 10 in the Cars.com index, is a widely recognized leader in the SUV market segment. Its design is ideal for consumers who like the advantages of a minivan without the stodgy appearance that has come to be associated with many such vehicles over the years.

A Reliable, Feature-laden Family Vehicle

Honda vans and SUVs are among the best family vehicles on the market. What it lacks in flash it more than makes up for in roominess, safety, and infotainment tech. Its V6 engine shouldn’t be overlooked, nor should its ability to tow up to 5,000 pounds. The Honda Pilot is a versatile workhorse, an SUV that can do some working and hauling during the week and carry the whole family on a long-distance vacation.
This isn’t a vehicle that will leave you feeling like a stick in the mud when you’re maneuvering through traffic. It sports a V-6 engine that packs plenty of wallop and a nine-speed transmission that makes for nice even transitions. Its size and power won’t go sluggish on you on uphill grades or while working through uneven traffic flows. The Honda Pilot has earned its Cars.com rating as an SUV that’s great for your work commute and transporting a full retinue of passengers and their cargo.

Interior Features

The Honda Pilot’s three-row alignment can seat seven to eight passengers comfortably, depending on which of its seven trim levels you choose (the Touring trim, which seats seven, features a center console). The interior affords excellent visibility thanks to narrow roof pillars and large windows. There’s abundant cargo space and plenty of corners and cubbies for storing small personal items.
The latest version of the Honda Pilot is chock full of great standard features, particularly with the higher-level trims, which boast an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, LED headlights, a sunroof, and sunshades for the second-row seats. The easy-to-access temperature controls and clearly outlined digital gauges make the Honda Pilot a delight to drive.

A Great Example of Honda Design Ingenuity

The Honda Pilot is a well-engineered and popular member of Honda’s lineup, a great example of what the automaker’s $19 billion investment in American manufacturing facilities has produced. Those operations have produced nearly 30 million vehicles and are a big reason why two-thirds of all Honda and Acura vehicles sold domestically are made in the U.S.
Honda also manufactures three Acura models that made it onto Cars.com’s index, the Acura MDX, RDX, and TLX (which ranked 14th, 15th, and 16th respectively); each one is made at Honda’s Marysville, Ohio factory.
