The rumors are true. You’re local GMC dealer will soon have Hummers for sale again. Instead of the large, gas-guzzling vehicles of the past, the newest 2022 GMC Hummer EV is going fully electric. GMC is bringing back this beast as one of the most powerful and capable electric vehicles to ever hit the road.
If you’re like most people, you’re sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for the new Hummer to appear in your favorite GMC dealer’s showroom. Production has already started on some models, but it might be a minute before you’ll see these innovative vehicles on the road.
Here’s what we know so far:
Set Your Expectations for the 2022 GMC Hummer EV
GMC has done a fantastic job setting expectations for the release of the Hummer EV. It’s also made sure to build excitement as we wait to take one on a test drive. There are currently four versions of the Hummer EV expected to this the road: EV Edition 1, EV2, EV2x, and EV3x. The differences between these models revolve around when they’ll be available and what kinds of features will be available.
EV Edition 1
The Hummer EV Edition 1 was slated to be available in the fall of 2021. Sadly, reservations for the first Hummer EVs are already full, and people should be taking them out on the road any day now. This edition has an estimated MSRP of $110,295.
Edition 1 offers three different powertrains that offer up to 329 miles of driving range, 1,000 horsepower, and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. That means a max towing of 7,500 pounds and a max payload of 1,300 pounds.
EV 3x
The next model to hit the road is the Hummer EV 3x. We expect it to be available in the Fall of 2022 with an estimated MSRP of $99,995.
The EV 3x also comes with three available powertrains but can be equipped to offer 350 miles of driving range on a single charge. It can also be fitted to deliver 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft of torque.
EV 2x
The EV 2x will only offer two powertrains and will hit the road in the Spring of 2023. You should expect an MSRP of $89,995.
When properly equipped, the 2x will offer 300+ miles of driving range, 625 hp, and 7,400 lb-ft of torque.
EV2
The EV2 is expected to be available in the spring of 2024. It might be the longest weight, but it also offers the lowest starting MSPR: $79,995.
This option also offers two powertrain options. You can expect 250+ miles of driving range, 625 hp, and 7,400 lb-ft of torque.
