Rearview Mirror: Checking the Stocks We Review Each Week

What were the opening and closing prices of the stocks that we look at for last week? Did these stocks go up, down, or stay about the same?

Each week we review some of the stocks from the automotive market to discuss the performance and think about what these stocks might do in the near future. Let’s get started and see how each one performed last week.

Toyota Motor Corp. (TM)

Toyota was riding a wave through most of last week with an opening price that came in at $184.80. the price stayed in this range most of the week before making a serious drop downward on Friday. The low price of the week was reached in the middle of Friday at $176.50 before the closing bell sounded. This stock found its way to $177.03 at the time that bell sounded.

Honda Motor Co. (HMC)

Honda also showed sparks of brilliance at the start of the week which was the high point for this stock at $32.90. Among the stocks we review, Honda is one that is usually very steady, but much like Toyota, it fell off the cliff to start Friday. The price dropped down to $31.68 to begin the final day of the week and then found its way to $31.71 at the end of the day to close the week.

General Motors (GM)

Another one of the stocks that took a fall last week was GM. This company began at $62.53 and steadily moved downward through Thursday and Friday. Instead of a cliff, GM fell in an arc down to a price of $58.46 early in the day on Friday. The closing bell came and this stock finished the week at $58.76 which showed a loss for the week.

Workhorse Group (WKHS)

The path of Workhorse Group was different than the previous three stocks. Workhorse started the week at a lower price of $13.98 before spiking up on Wednesday to give us a high price at $15.48. This stock settled a little but continued to be an up and down moving stock ticker before ending the week. When the closing bell sounded, the price of Workhorse was $14.87, giving investors a nice profit.

BYD Co. Ltd. (BYDDF)

Another one of the stocks that gave us a positive path last week was BYD. This stock started at $26.56 and took a sharp upward path to start Thursday and Friday. The high point was reached on Friday at$29.80 before this stock stayed relatively level the rest of the day. The final price of BYD when the closing bell sounded was $29.76 which gave the investors the smile they wanted to wear on their faces.

GreenPower Motor Co. (GP)

The week began with GreenPower at $17.85 and the price of this stock made several upward and downward moves to make it somewhat unpredictable. The price reached a high point of $19.70 shortly after opening on Friday but took an immediate tumble to $18.29 before coming back to where we want to see it. The closing bell rang and this was one of the stocks that has made a profit as it reached $19.57 when that bell sounded.

NIO Inc. (NIO)

NIO began last week at $43.94 and stayed in this area until shortly after the start of Thursday. One this time came; this stock moved upward quickly and reach a high point at the start of Friday at $47.92. NIO is one of the stocks that we’ve followed all year and when it finished last week the price per share was $46.91.

First Trust NASDAQ Global Auto Index Fund (CARZ)

This auto fund gave us a path that was more like the first three stocks we looked at. This stock started the week at $61.50 per share which moved slowly downward before dropping off the cliff on Friday. The start of Friday gave us a price of $60,00 which is close to where this stock ended. The final price came in at $59.85 when the bell sounded.
