Rearview Mirror: A Look Back at Some Auto Stocks from 5/3-5/7

It’s time for our weekly installment of the Rearview Mirror where we take a look back at how some auto stocks performed last week.

In our previous installment, we saw that most of the stocks we follow decreased in the price per share to give investors a decision to make of whether to stick with the stocks they like or invest in another company.

Toyota Motor Corp. (TM)

Monday began with Toyota at $151.80 and it increased a little throughout the day. Tuesday this stock started to decline before rebounding through the rest of the week. The final price of Toyota for the week was also the high price of the week. As we look back at how this stock performed we see that it came to $153.66 at the closing bell on Friday.

Honda Motor Co. (HMC)

Honda followed a similar path as Toyota. This stock began Monday at $30.04 and moved downward to Tuesday before starting the recovery process on Wednesday. The price of the Honda stock climbed steadily through the rest of the week. The high price was reached in the middle of Friday at $31.04 before reaching the closing price at $30.93.

General Motors (GM)

A huge valley in the stock price of General Motors was created when we take a look back at how this auto stock performed. This value took place on Tuesday and only on Tuesday. GM stock price began last Monday at $58.07 and the low was reached early on Tuesday at $$55.05. The high price was hit at the closing bell on Friday which was $58.99 giving investors a profit for the week.

Workhorse Group (WKHS)

Here is one of the auto stocks that we can look back at and see that it fell throughout the week. Workhorse Group began last week at $12.15 per share and quickly declined throughout the week. The low price was reached on Thursday at $9.36 before making a bit of a recovery to close the week at $9.65. This is where we will have to start out this next week with this auto stock.

BYD Co. Ltd. (BYDDF)

The price of BYD Co. Ltd. Began last week at $20.26 which is about where this stock was throughout Monday before dipping down on Tuesday. When Wednesday began, this stock moved back up to where it has been at the start of the week. Thursday and Friday told a different story as this stock dropped to $18.68 before closing the week at $18.77.

GreenPower Motor Co. (GP)

As we look back at how GreenPower performed last week we see a stock that began the week at $18.00 per share before moving downward. There were a couple of peaks and valleys during the week, but overall this stock dropped in price. The low price was reached on Thursday at $16.03 and the final closing price was $16.36 where it will begin this week.

NIO Inc. (NIO)

NIO began last week at $39.97 before the price moved upward through Monday before dropping hard to begin Tuesday. This stock reached a high point of $41.39 and a low price at $35.82 which happened on Thursday. The closing price came in at $36.94.

First Trust NASDAQ Global Auto Index Fund (CARZ)

CARZ started out last week at $55.95 before dropping for Tuesday. As we look back at the week, we see that Tuesday was the only valley for this stock. The price recovered and reached a high point of $56.50 near the closing bell on Friday. That closing price showed a slight decline from this high point to come in at $56.27 per share.
