Rearview Mirror: Ending the First Quarter of 2021

As we see the end of the first quarter of 2021, we take a look at the seven automotive stocks we’ve been reviewing the performance each week.

We’ve followed these tickers week after week and now we’re going to take a look at the performance for the entire first quarter of the year.

Nio Inc. (NIO)

Nio Inc. began the first quarter of 2021 at $53.49 and found its way to the high price for the quarter of $62.70 on 1/11/2021. For a full month, this stock hovered around the $60.00 price before declining in the middle of February. The low mark of the quarter was reached on 3/8/2011 when this stock reached $35.21. The final price for NIO was $36.13, which shows significant losses for the quarter.

Ferrari (RACE)

The start of January for Ferrari saw this auto stock priced at $227.01 per share. The stock price quickly declined and we never saw it reach this mark again during the quarter. The lowest price Ferrari hit was$187.78 on 3/4/2021 before making its way back upward. The final price for the quarter came in at $204. 26 which means an overall loss for investors.

General Motors (GM)

The first quarter of 2021 gave us a price of $40.51 per share for General Motors. This auto stock would never see a price this low again during the quarter. With a continuously rising price for the quarter, the stock hit a high of $60.05 on 3/17/2021. The final price for the quarter was $56.52, giving investors a strong profit and excellent performance.

Toyota Motor Corp. (TM)

The year began with Toyota priced at $153.29. This stock started a decline right away and dropped to a low for the quarter of $140.41 on 2/1/2021. Once it reached this point, the price moved back up quickly and hit the quarterly high at $161.56 on 2/10/2021. A few more ups and downs for this stock took place and the closing price for the quarter came in at $153.37, giving investors a small profit.

Harley-Davidson (HOG)

The famous motorcycle brand started the first quarter of 2021 with a stock price of $36.15. This price moved up quickly and reached a quarterly high at $42.57 on 1/20/2021. This stock fell relatively quickly and reached a low for the quarter of $32.06 on 2/4/2021. After moving up and down along the $35.00 price for the rest of the quarter, the HOG ticker closed the quarter at $36.40.

Tata Motors (TTM)

Tata Motors began the first quarter of 2021 at $12.76 and this was the lowest price for the entire quarter. This stock price quickly moved upward and eventually reached the high price for the quarter on 2/6/2021 at $23.37. The price leveled out a bit but stayed above the $20.00 mark and finished out the quarter at $20.40, giving investors a handsome profit for the quarter.

Ford (F)

Ford is another of the auto stocks that started at a low price and never looked back. 2021 began with Ford stock at $8.52 per share but this was the lowest price of the quarter. The high mark was reached on 3/12/2021 at $13.37after strong upward movements took place all quarter long. The final price for this stock was $12.30 per share, offering investors the profits they look for.
