The new models are coming, the new models are coming! It’s an exciting time for the Nissan brand and the development of the models that will be on the market in the very near future. As we move out of the pandemic that’s slowed global progress down, we see many companies starting to get back to normal; none more so than the Nissan brand of vehicles. In a recent introduction video, Nissan found a way to capture our attention from A to Z with a strong lineup of new models that will make their way to the market.
Which Nissan Do We Want to See the Most?
You could say that we’re looking forward to all of the new Nissan models equally, but that would be false. Yes, it will be nice to see the new trucks and SUVs, it will be great to see what the new hatchbacks and passenger cars offer, but the vehicle we want to see the most is the all-new Z sports car. With rumors that have swirled over the past few years that told us the Z-car would be gone after the 370Z or that it might transition to a small SUV, the last vehicle shown in the video makes us excited for the future.
The New Nissan Z is Coming
You’ve almost got to be giddy with excitement when you hear that a new Z-car is coming. It doesn’t matter if you’re a young driver and you haven’t ever driven a Z-car or understand its history or you’re in the latter part of your life and you remember when the first Datsun 240Z arrived, the fact that we will have a new model makes you smile. The new Z-car is one that has a heritage and a strong place in history to continue forward.
The Tradition Continues at Nissan
From the view we get of the new Z-car in the video, it appears the new model will wear the traditional shape which gives you a long nose, short rear deck, and a low stance. This new model looks leaner than the current Nissan 370Z to give us a new reason to see what they have to offer. The current version of this car has been in the market since 2008, making it a bit long in the tooth. Its time for a new version and this new model looks incredible.
What to Expect in the New Z-Car
We’ve been trying to piece together what to expect in the new Z-car since some of the patent filings began more than a year ago. There will likely be a retro Z badge in the C pillar, round headlights and daytime running lights to give us a retro feeling, and the short rear end. The number badge is one area where we aren’t sure what we will have, but the number 400 has been tossed around. Regardless of the number, a new Z-car is something we’re going to be extremely excited about.
What Will Power this New Nissan Sports Car
One of the most fun things that we can do is wonder what engine will find its way under the hood of the new Nissan Z-car. So far, we’ve heard rumors that we might see the 4.0-liter V6 engine used for this car, which would be in line with the naming process used. The previous 370Z uses a 3.7-liter V6 engine for the power desired. Another option could be to allow the name to match the horsepower and use the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that powers the INFINITI Red Sport 400 models.
More Nissan Models on the Way
While we are certainly gushing over the new Z-car that will get the most attention when it arrives, there are several other models in the video lineup to give you a variety of choices when you’re looking for a new Nissan to drive. As the video suggests, the new models run from A-Z to give us a look at more of Nissan’snew vehicles than we’ve seen in a long time. Not all of these vehicles will be offered in every market, but if they were, it would be pretty cool to see.
Naming the New Nissans
The other models shown in the video clip include the Ariya, Armada, Frontier, Kicks, Navara, Pathfinder, Qashqai, Rogue, Terra, and X-Trail. There may also be a new Murano on the way; hints of this new vehicle showed up in the video as well. The Nissan Airya is the forthcoming EV SUV model that will be offered as a brand new name in North America. This new model has already used the Leaf powertrain in its prototype, but it may show up with a beefier battery and motor when it arrives in the market to be the electric SUV you want to drive.
Finally, a New Frontier
If you thought the Nissan 370Zhad been around for a long time, you should see when the current generation of the Nissan Frontier showed up. This midsize truck has been in the market for sixteen years, giving it an age that’s only a little younger than some of you reading this. Thankfully, its one of the first vehicles that will be upgraded as the planned time for the new Frontier is the 2021 model year. We already see the new engine, which was put in the 2020 model, but a new build will make us smile from ear to ear.
The New Nisan Z-Car is Soon to Follow
We don’t know exactly when the new Nissan Z-car will show up on dealer lots, but you can certainly expect it to show off at different car shows, as long as we are allowed to have them, over the next several months. Rumors tell us this new car could be part of the 2021 model year, but its probably going to arrive in the early part of the calendar year. Regardless, when the new Z-car arrives, we’re going to flock to Nissan and get behind the wheel of a car that has nearly fifty years of tradition and performance behind it.
