Hybrid Ford Bronco will Emerge

Ford has made waves with regards to engine technology with the lineup of EcoBoost engines that are used to provide more power and efficiency in a variety of the Ford models offered on the market. With that in mind, the one way to gain even more efficiency and add a power boost, especially in regards to the torque numbers, is to offer a hybrid version of the vehicle. Ford has already announced they will offer a number of hybrid models of the names we already know and admire but the question of whether or not the Bronco will have a hybrid powertrain was raised.

The Ford Question is Answered

Ford has answered the question and informed us this version of the Bronco will be offered in the future. This will be one of many of the Ford models offered that will have an eco-friendly version with the Explorer, Escape, and new F-150 all adding electrification to the mix as well. There will also be an all-electric Ford Mustang-inspired SUV that will be offered on the market next year as well, but the news of a new Bronco is one that can make us smile.

The Right Ford Hybrid System

The next question that arises with this new from Ford is which model of the Bronco will have a hybrid powertrain. It’s likely going to be the version that uses the same powertrain as the Ford Explorer with the ten-speed automatic transmission. This means the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine could receive an electric motor. This layout will likely improve the power numbers to 400 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque to give us the incredible power we want when taking the Bronco out on the trails for a drive. This also might not be the engine that benefits from a hybrid motor.

Another Option

The addition of a Ford Bronco with a hybrid powertrain under the hood makes us think that the Ford Ranger will likely also benefit from a power setting for the future. This means we might have the Bronco with the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood be the one that has hybrid power added to the mix. This could result in a more powerful and more capable powertrain that already has shown us the incredible qualities it offers when we see it used in the Ranger that we can drive.

Will the Hybrid Model Launch with the Regular Bronco?

We don’t have the regular Ford Bronco on the market yet and we can surmise that we should see a hybrid model launch alongside the regular model for the 2020 model year. This is when we will know just what the hybrid form of the Ford Bronco will bring and what it will mean for us to have an impressive off-road SUV that competes at the highest level while giving us the benefits of improved fuel mileage and more torque for the drive we want to experience when we head out on the trails.
