Detroit Auto Show Gave Us Good and Bad

The beginning of the year has taken place and in America that has meant the Detroit Auto Show has come and gone. As the final version of this show that will be held in the winter, the next version of this show will be new and unique in its presentation. Now that this show is in the books, we can talk more about what came to the show and gave us a look that we’re excited about along with the vehicles that were presented that didn’t quite meet our standards and capture our attention.

Winners from The Detroit Auto Show

2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

This Ford car was an easy choice with its modern muscle appeal and the massive amount of power that’s offered to give you the excitement you want. This car brings a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine to give you more than 700 horsepower to give you the power you want while being a car that can be driven around corners to carve up the track.

2019 Ram Heavy Duty

Another winner for this show is the new heavy-duty version of the Ram pickup truck at the 2500 and 3500 sizes. This amazing truck rides on a frame that’s comprised of 98.5 percent high-strength steel to enhance the rigidity. You’ll also love the 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque that comes from the engine if you’re looking for a new work truck to help you get things done.

2020 Subaru WRX STI S209

This specially modified version of the car that we already love as a Rally racer showed up and gave us a look at the S-line performance that we can expect from Subaru. This car features a bigger turbocharger, special intake plumbing, and other enhancements to allow it to reach 341 horsepower and be a car that should be a lot of fun to drive.

2020 Toyota Supra

This car has to be one of the biggest winners at the show. We’ve been looking forward to the new Supra for a long time and now it’s here to give us the look and the drive we want. Perfectly weighted and ready to ride, the hardest part about the Supra might be the wait we have to deal with until it’s offered at dealerships.

Undecided Models at the Show

2020 Cadillac XT6

In a world where we see more exciting SUVs than in the past and the fact that Cadillac is going to be heavy with these models soon, we expected more. The single powertrain makes this SUV a bit boring, but the spacious cabin, excellent seating, and an impressive array of electronics do appeal to our desire to be comfortable on the road.

2020 Ford Explorer

Ford did a better job than Cadillac by offering at least four powertrains for the new Explorer and this SUV is being built on a brand new platform to give us plenty to like about it. Even so, the new look may become polarizing and cause the Explorer to be a model that many aren’t familiar with any longer.

Losers at the Detroit Auto Show

2020 Volkswagen Passat

In a segment that seems to be dying, the new Passat doesn’t make a strong argument for any support or continued presence in the market. This car rides on the same basic underpinnings as the previous models and it doesn’t offer anything exciting under the hood. The Passat does have a large rear seat to make it an impressive family sedan.

Hyundai N Line

When it comes to what Hyundai is trying to do with more performance, they should probably skip the N Line level and move right to the N models. The Veloster N is a hot hatch that’s amazing to drive, but the Elantra GT N Line gave us a look at how performance can be diluted and when you expect excitement and don’t get it, you feel disappointed.

Infiniti QX Inspiration Concept

This Infiniti QX is another loser at the Detroit Auto Show because it is another all-electric crossover concept which seems to be the theme and a requirement for most auto shows. This vehicle does give us a look at the luxury and comfort you can expect from the brand, but the build and the qualities offered have become cliché at best.
