There are many times in the automotive world when we see a vehicle that heads off into the sunset with no promise of making a return. Often, this is the result of poor sales, but other times it has to do with the development of the next model that might not be ready to be offered on the market when the previous generation has ended. We’ve seen the return of model names for several years and more in recent times than any other in the history of the automotive industry.
Nissan is a brand that we know and admire with the vehicles that make sense for our drive. With this in mind, we may see the return of a name that we last saw in 2015 that can be added to the lineup in the future, even if the North American market isn’t the first place where this vehicle will be offered from the Nissan brand.
What is the new Nissan Vehicle?
Recently, photos and a teaser video have been released to give us a look at the all-new Nissan Terra SUV which will be the next frame-based vehicle to go on sale from this brand. The Terra will make its debut in the market in China in the spring as the first vehicle from the frame and LCV division of the company under the new midterm plan, Nissan M.O.V.E to 2022. This division is comprised of frame SUVs, pickups, vans, and light-duty trucks with the goal of increasing the sales of these vehicles by more than forty percent by 2022. Right now, one in every six Nissan models sold around the world is a frame-based vehicle or an LCV.
The release date for the new Nissan Terra is slated for April, which is when we’ll receive the details regarding this vehicle and what it will offer. After China, this model will make its way to other Asian markets as it makes it move toward other markets. Currently, we don’t see any information that will tell us the vehicle will make its way to North America at all, but it would seem strange not to have a version of it at all.
The new Terra will replace the Paladin in China, which is known as the Xterra in other areas of the world. We haven’t had the Nissan Xterra on the market since 2015, but this new model could be the one that might bring back the name. This new Terra SUV will ride on the same platform as the NP300 Navara truck and it could be the next seven-seater SUV offered in the US as well. The increased growth of the crossover market in the US makes it possible for us to have this SUV in the future once it’s proved to be a successful choice in other areas of the world.
