Taking a Look Back at the Ford Bronco

Taking a Look Back at the Ford Bronco

Because the new version of the Ford Bronco is expected in the next couple of years, it’s a good time to take a look back at the reputation the Bronco built in the past and what it will be for the future. As far back as 1988, the Ford Bronco was an SUV that offered us a large number of items that made it the right choice for you to drive on and off the road. This was the vehicle you wanted when you weren’t going to spend the amount a Land Rover would require and don’t want to choose one of the other options.
The early days of the Ford Bronco allowed us to admire the body on frame build, the impressive power, the stable handling and the incredible comfort this SUV brought to the market. Fast forward thirty years and you might wonder if the Bronco will have similar attributes or will it be offered as something different. Will this new version be a unibody crossover or a rugged off-roader to truly compete with the Wrangler for off-road dominance? Does this SUV have what it takes to be one of the favorites on the market once again?

The Thirty Year Old Review

The video below is a review from the 1988 version of the Ford Bronco, and what you notice when you see this video is the qualities that made the Bronco what it was and allowed us to realize this is what we still want in this SUV. The optional 5.0-liter V8 engine was offered and you could have the 4×4 setup to make this an amazing model on the trails. With the body control you wanted and the standard locking wheel hubs, you had an SUV that made sense at the time.
The comfort for the drive in this old model was offered with the red velour interior that makes it a nice but inexpensive seat covering that you admired. The back seat space was tiny but that left a lot of room for a large rear space for cargo behind these small seats to make sure you can have the right place to carry the materials you want to take with you. This SUV was a lot of fun and one of the most popular for those that wanted all the comfort and capability of an impressive off-road SUV, even now as a gently Used Ford.
Looking back at this old review of the Bronco has us excited about what we’re going to see for the new Bronco that we expect will show up in 2020. If this new model has the rugged simplicity and straightforward off-road qualities, we’re going to be pleased by what the new Bronco has to offer for the drive and the comfort we want to have. Only a bit more time is left until this new model shows up for the drive we want to have on the roads and we’ll get to see what Ford has in store for us very soon.
