The entire world is sitting on pins and needles waiting for the new Chevy Corvette Z06 to arrive at Chevrolet dealer locations. This highly-anticipated speedster raises the bar on what is possible with a street-legal sports car. It\u2019s such a popular upcoming vehicle that it\u2019s been asked to serve as a pace car in the Indy 500. Some Chevrolet dealer owners are even trying to mark up the price of this beast to take advantage of its demand.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Changing The Game Through Aerodynamics<\/h3>\n

One of the fascinating innovations in the Corvette Z06 involves this car\u2019s airflow. The exterior design manager for the Corvette, Kirk Bennion, remarked about how this new model is almost as wide as the C8R race car, which means many elements had to be moved outward, including the taillights and extractors.<\/p>\n

When you\u2019re cruising down the road in a V8 engine that produces a rocking 670 horsepower, it is going to need some serious cooling. To help, the Corvette has large side intakes that push air into the engine compartment. This \u201cwing shape\u201d also provides some serious downforce on each end. We\u2019re talking 734 pounds of downforce at 186 mph.<\/p>\n

The standard Corvette Z06 comes also comes with a front splitter and distinctive rear spoiler. This spoiler features an installable fixed vertical tab at the edge of the spoiler that helps increase the overall downforce. Drivers can also opt for an available carbon-fiber aero package that throws in a larger front splitter, front-corner dive planes, a pedestal-mounted rear wing, and underbody aero strakes. These elements work together to increase downforces and increase maneuverability.<\/p>\n

At high speeds, air resistance<\/a><\/strong> plays a huge role in how a car accelerates, handles, and burns fuel. By keeping airflow at the center of the Corvette\u2019s design, Chevrolet was able to build something that can take on the harshest winds without losing car\u2019s power and control.<\/p>\n

Aerodynamics Aren\u2019t The Only Thing That Will Blow Your Mind<\/h3>\n

While the Corvette Z06 certainly offers some impressive aerodynamic design elements, it also has some other features that make it a winner. For example, drivers have a plethora of personalization options on the interior alone. We\u2019re talking over 11,000 options that can be specified. Of course, this kind of personal tailoring will bring this car into the $250,000 range.<\/p>\n
