Starting with the powertrain, the new Honda Accord Hybrid makes use of a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine with a two-motor hybrid system. These two electric motors are unique because they are the first in the world to use permanent magnets that don\u2019t have any heavy rare-earth metals in them. The output of this system is 212 horsepower to give you more than enough power for the drive you need to make in this hybrid sedan. The way these motors certainly makes us stop and take a look, but the efficiency numbers are what will convince you to choose this model for your drive.<\/p>\n

The Fuel Mileage Comparison<\/h2>\n

The new system for the Honda Accord Hybrid offers you an amazing 47 city\/47 hwy mpg to give you an excellent number, especially when put up against most vehicles on the road. This number is well ahead of the Ford Fusion Hybrid numbers of 43 city\/41 hwy mpg but amazingly, it\u2019s a little bit lower than the previous Accord Hybrid which offered 49 city\/47 hwy mpg. The difference between the two Accord models is the build of the electric motors, which is certainly more eco-friendly than the previous build that we had in this car.<\/p>\n

Looking at other hybrids on the market, the Toyota Camry Hybrid offers you 51 city\/52 hwy mpg in the LE trim only while the SE and XLE trims of this car offer you 44 city\/47 hwy mpg. If a couple of miles per hour means the difference for you and you\u2019re looking for a Honda<\/a> model to drive, the Clarity plug-in could be the right choice because it has a 42-mile electric range and then 42 mpg average once the electrical charge has been used up. This equates to a higher overall fuel mileage when you drive on the road.<\/p>\n

If the Honda Accord Hybrid is the right choice for you and 47 mpg sounds like a number you can enjoy, this car is offered in four trims which are base, EX, EX-L, and Touring. The new base trim is similar to the LX trim of the gasoline-only Accord models. All trims have a full-size trunk thanks to a smaller battery pack and the electronics package that has been placed under the floor and not in the trunk.
