The 2025 Honda Pilot becomes the latest of five Honda models to earn an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating, giving this three-row SUV an excellent jumping-off point.
This is the highest award possible from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and is partly due to the enhanced rear seat belts that improve protection for second-row passengers. The 2025 Pilot is the latest model available at your Honda dealer.
Honda’s Safety For Everyone
Along with the 2024 Top Safety Pick+ designation, the 2025 Honda Pilot gets top ratings from the IIHS in Crash Worthiness, pedestrian front crash prevention, and headlight performance. For the moderate overlap front test, the enhanced seat belts in the new Honda Pilot helped it do well in this category. A total of five Honda models now have 2024 TSP ratings or better from the IIHS.
Honda’s safety motto is Safety For Everyone, which focuses on advanced safety features that help protect everyone on the road, not just the people in a Honda vehicle. All 2025 Honda Pilot models come with the Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance technology and advanced safety features.
Some of these advanced features include Collision Mitigation Braking, Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping Assist. All Honda models now get the Honda Sensing suite as standard equipment.
Advanced Compatibility Engineering Design
All Honda vehicles, including the 2025 Pilot, are constructed with the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure. This unique design structure helps protect passengers in various types of frontal collisions. Honda models also include advanced supplemental restraint systems. The Pilot was recently redesigned for the 2023 model year with an optimized frame.
Honda enhanced the Pilot’s ACE structure to improve the SUV’s crash compatibility with smaller vehicles and to protect passengers better. The new Pilot also received Honda’s front passenger airbag system with an award-winning design that helps protect the passenger’s head and neck in angled impacts.
For the 2025 model year, the Pilot added updated load force settings to mitigate injury potential in crashes. Every Honda model that has been fully evaluated for the 2024 and 2025 model year has garnered a five-star overall score.
Powerful Commitment to Safety
Honda’s goal is to reduce traffic collision fatalities involving its vehicles to zero by 2050. It may seem like a lofty goal, but Honda is well-known for operating two of the most elite crash-test facilities in the world. One of the facilities is located in Ohio in the United States, and the other is located in Japan. Honda is responsible for various ground-breaking efforts in pedestrian safety, vehicle crashworthiness, and collision compatibility.
The advanced safety features and driver assistance technology in the Honda Sensing and AcuraWatch suites are now found in over eight million vehicles in the United States. This tech is designed to reduce the frequency and severity of car crashes.
Other winners of the 2024 IIHS TSP+ designation include the 2024 Honda Accord and the 2024 Honda HR-V. The 2024 Honda CR-V and 2024 Honda Odyssey were awarded the TSP designation for 2024.
