The growth of the electric vehicle market allows the entire automotive market to offer more vareity. Here are a few new cars you should watch for.
Automakers announce projects they are working on regularly, but not everything makes it to production. Still, many new vehicles are coming, especially as more models transition from traditional gas-powered platforms to new hybrid and electric builds to give us something to look forward to. With that in mind, here are some of the most exciting new cars coming to the market very soon. Which one will you drive?
2025 Volkswagen ID.Buzz
Let’s start with the remake of a classic vehicle that was one of the most popular choices in the 1960s and 1970s. This was a time when the Volkswagen Microbus was extremely popular and symbolized freedom of expression and driving. The 2025 model year should bring us an electric remake of this class van in the form of the ID.Buzz, which looks extremely similar to the original Microbus. The model coming to America is the long-wheelbase passenger configuration, which should offer 282 horsepower in RWD or 330 horsepower for the AWD configuration.
2025 Toyota MR2
That’s right, the MR2 is returning to the market as a new sports car. This is one of the most exciting new cars heading our way, giving us another great Toyota sports car to drive. The new MR2 could bring electrification to the Toyota sports car lineup, making it a new build and a remake of a classic name. The previous version of the MR2 was a mid-engine sports car, but this new version could be even more fun and exciting than the older model.
2028 Subaru WRC STI EV
The next electrified Subaru could be the WRX STI, which will add the EV letters to the name. This could mean a plug-in hybrid powertrain or a new setup with a gas-powered generator and electric motors running the wheels. Regardless of the powertrain, this should be an AWD performance vehicle ready to take on the challenges of the WRC tracks that kick up a ton of dirt. This new Subaru is several years away, but it could generate at least 400 horsepower and give us an amazing car for fun on any road or track.
2026 Rivian R2S
The next version of the Rivian SUV could be the vehicle you should be watching for. This could be one of the most exciting new cars entering the market, giving us a smaller electric SUV than the current R1S. This new and smaller SUV is still in development, which means we don’t know much about it. Expect the price of this new Rivian to be much more affordable than the current R1S SUV.
2025 Ram Rampage
The Ram Rampage was originally slated for 2024, but it never made it to the market this year. This new model will likely compete in the compact truck class, giving Ram everything except a midsize pickup. The Rampage will use a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, likely the same 2.0-liter unit found in the Dodge Hornet GT SUV. This new truck should go up against the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz to give us another compact pickup to drive and enjoy every day.
2025 Nissan Maxima
The Maxima name has a strong following in the United States, and bringing this name back could be a smart move for Nissan. This time, the Maxima might come in as an electric vehicle, which makes it one of the most exciting new cars coming to the market. Nissan is preparing to launch an electric sedan, and that sedan will ride on the same platform as the Ariya SUV. This means the Maxima could be the perfect choice when it comes to developing and creating this new car.
2025 Mazda CX-70
The Mazda SUV lineup expands to include a new two-row midsize crossover called the CX-70. This new model rides on the same platform as the three-row CX-90, giving this new SUV a spacious cabin filled with excellent features. This new version means you’ll have a midsize crossover with two rows of seats and plenty of power. The new CX-70 should have a turbocharged 6-cylinder engine that delivers up to 340 horsepower and the new plug-in hybrid powertrain. This new Mazda should have a much nicer cabin than other SUVs with similar pricing.
These are seven exciting new cars that should be on your list as the next models you might want to drive when they arrive in the market. Which one will you choose?
