2024 Honda Ridgeline: Unibody Powerhouse Redefining Midsize Pickup Standards

2024 Honda Ridgeline: Unibody Powerhouse Redefining Midsize Pickup Standards

The 2024 Honda Ridgeline occupies a unique position in the midsize pickup truck class, giving us a unibody truck that drives like an SUV.

Midsize pickups continually change. Most recently, more models in this class bring off-road features and qualities to every trim. Although interesting and impressive, most truck owners aren’t going on the trails every day. These hardcore off-roaders seem to have forgotten what this truck class really needs. Thankfully, where other trucks lean too far to one side or the other, the 2024 Honda Ridgeline provides a complete package of everything that a midsize truck should be.

Is the Ridgeline powerful enough?

This midsize Honda truck has a unibody construction, which makes it feel like an SUV on the roads. The powertrain is comprised of a 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. This pairing delivers 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. This truck can tow up to 5,000 pounds, and the AWD system allows it to handle light to medium trails. It might not be the most hardcore midsize truck available, but it has more than enough equipment to be capable and impressive on and off the roads.

What’s new for the 2024 model year?

The 2024 Honda Ridgeline lineup replaces the RTL-E model with the off-road-focused TrailSport trim. This is consistent with the upgrades offered for the Honda Passport and other Honda SUVs. The new TrailSport trim gives the Ridgeline a more rugged image with trail-ready all-terrain tires, additional skid-plate protection, and an off-road suspension.

Looking inside, we see that Honda has added a new 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity. There’s also a wider center console with expanded storage ad a new driver-assist feature for the Sport trim. Unfortunately, the in-bed audio system has been deleted from the lineup.
