G-Power makes a huge difference in already highly tuned cars. The new BMW M5 G-Power takes the potent M5 CS to new heights of power and performance.
When is the power and performance too much for a sports sedan? We’ll tell you when we get there. For now, the highly tuned and tweaked BMW performance sedan called the G5M CS Hurricane RR is an incredible machine with more power than you’ll ever use unless you take this amazing car out to the track. Let’s see what G-Power did with this already amazing BMW performance sedan.
G-Power magic uptunes the engine
The engine under the hood of this incredible BMW is the 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that we’re familiar with in the M5. This engine has been tuned to 888 horsepower and 774 lb-ft of torque with the use of G-Power magic. This is a huge difference from the 627 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque the standard car provides.
The added power for this BMW sports sedan is thanks to G-Power adding new forged pistons and connecting rods, upgraded turbochargers, new CNC-milled turbine and compressor housings, a larger compressor, bigger turbine wheels, and improved turbo blades.
The symphony of amazing exhaust sounds coming from the rear
In addition to the engine tuning, the BMW M5 G-Power received an impressive Deep Tone exhaust system which reduces the back pressure and gives this car a unique and impressive sound while driving. The changes to the system required a set of software upgrades as well, which brings the GP-900 software upgrade to the mix. This changes the engine parameters, including ignition timing.
These added goodies and changes to the power system give this amazing car a higher top speed, which is 207 mph.
Did G-Power tune more versions of the M5?
Some drivers might not want the power or price of the G5M CS Hurricane RR. These drivers have some options. The G-Power team tuned a G5M CS Hurricane RS, which provides up to 840 horsepower for the high-powered drive. Another tamer option is the G5M CS Bi-Turbo, which is tuned with 700, 750, or 800 horsepower. While none of these alternatives reach the same power as the top model, all provide more power than most drivers will ever use or need. Still, how cool would it be to tell your buddies you have an 800-horsepower M5?
Small changes to the overall M5 design
The new BMW M5 G-Power is mostly about increased power for performance. The top version receives 21-inch wheels that are unique to this model. Other upgrades include a carbon-fiber rear spoiler and carbon-fiber hood. The hood improves ventilation in the engine bay, making it easier for air to flow into the engine and bring maximum power to the drive.
Some items that haven’t changed for this car are the front bumper, chin spoiler, and kidney grille, giving the M5 the look that we love and admire in this impressive BMW sports sedan.
Did anything change in the cabin area?
Many tuners will add something to the cabin to show the car has their brand of upgrades. There’s a bespoke plaque in the center console to show the build number and other information from G-Power. This piece of hardware in the cabin tells us the car has been tuned by the G-Power team but also indicates this is a car that will be limited to only a few versions. It could be extremely difficult for shoppers to get their hands on this incredible, high-performance version of the BMW M5, but those well-heeled enough will add it to their collections.
How much does it cost to add G-Power to the M5?
For those interested in tuning their BMW M5 with the G-Power items, the cost might blow you away. First, you must purchase the BMW M5 CS, which costs $134,100 in the United States. That’s where things begin, but if you want to add the G-Power items to the mix, the added cost is $120,000. That means you’ve spent more than $250,000 on a BMW M5. That seems like too much, but considering the G5M Hurricane RR has 888 horsepower, it could be worth the cost, especially if you’re ready to race this car around the track.
What else has G-Power tuned? There’s no shortage of vehicles tuned with the G-Power touch. They’ve gotten their hands on cars from Mercedes-Benz and Lamborghini, adding power, performance, and incredible speed to some of the best cars from high-end luxury automakers.
