The 2024 Honda Prologue is heading to market; will it be the EV you want to drive? Finally! Honda enters the electric vehicle world.
It was uncertain whether or not Honda would bring a fully electric vehicle to the market before 2026, but the new Prologue is ready to hit the roads for the 2024 model year. The previous EV effort from Honda can be considered a learning experience rather than a complete failure, but with the Clarity Electric gone and the new Prologue heading our way, something new and interesting is ready to hit the market.
How did Honda get this EV off the ground so fast?
Honda partnered with General Motors to make use of the Ultium battery platform. This partnership brings the new Prologue to the market faster than what Honda would have done without GM’s help. This means the new Honda EV shares a platform with the new Chevy Equinox EV, Blazer EV, and other GM electric vehicles. If you’re waiting to see electric vehicles fully engineered by Honda, those won’t arrive until the 2026 model year. For now, the Prologue will have to do.

Do we know the Prologue’s power figures?
This new Honda EV will be offered in three trims: EX, Touring, and Elite. The lower two trims offer the choice of either a single-motor FWD layout or a dual-motor AWD configuration. Honda hasn’t announced the power and driving range for the FWD models yet. The Elite trim will only be sold as an AWD, dual-motor model. This setup should provide 288 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque.
The Prologue offers drivers what they’re looking for, with 300 miles of driving range on a full charge. Utilizing a DC fast charging port, the Prologue can add about 65 miles of driving range for every 10 minutes it’s plugged in. This fast charging capability is one area where Honda will need to make improvements in the future.
An expanded versions of Honda Sensing is part of the package
The new Honda Prologue will include an improved and updated version of the Honda Sensing suite of active driver assistance features. This package comes standard on the Prologue and adds the benefits of rear cross-traffic braking, blind-zone steering assist, and rear pedestrian alert to the mix. The Prologue is the first Honda vehicle to include these three safety features as part of the standard package. In addition to these new items, the Honda Safety Sense package includes automatic emergency braking, lane keeping, and adaptive cruise control. This new Honda EV should achieve top safety ratings from the IIHS and NHTSA with this incredible package of features.
Where does the Prologue fit in the Honda SUV lineup?
This new Honda EV is a little larger than the CR-V Hybrid, but it might be a little shorter than the hybrid SUV. This new Prologue could be bigger on the inside, thanks to the electric motor layout. This new EV has a 121.8-inch wheelbase, which is longer than the CR-V Hybrid and Passport. The Prologue is also eight inches longer than the CR-V Hybrid, while also being five inches wider than the hybrid crossover.
Looking inside the cabin, you’ll find 25.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, with a 60/40 split-folding bench seat that enables this space to increase to 57.7 cubic feet. These measurements put the Prologue between the HR-V and CR-V in terms of cargo space.
Bigger screens show off the tech side of this Honda EV
Most new EVs come with large screens that are made to operate every aspect of these vehicles. The new Prologue includes a standard 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch infotainment screen. These screen sizes are smaller than some found in other EVs but are still pretty impressive for the Honda lineup. The Honda infotainment system has Google built-in, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You’ll also find a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, wireless phone charging, and over-the-air updates as part of the base EX trim.
The Touring model comes with a 12.-speaker Bose audio system, a hands-free power liftgate, driver’s seat memory settings, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and front and rear parking sensors. If you select the Elite model, you’ll have a head-up display, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and Sport mode.
