Meet the Infiniti QX Monograph: The Likely Successor to the QX80

Meet the Infiniti QX Monograph: The Likely Successor to the QX80

Is the new Infiniti QX Monograph the replacement for the QX80? This new top-end luxury SUV appeared at Monterey Car Week, and it could be the QX80 successor.

The new QX Monograph includes a new design language that brings the upscale style to the name while maintaining the recognizable size and impressive build of the top-end Infiniti SUV. This new vehicle brings a massive footprint, upright design elements, and just the right amount of wavy surfaces to be stylish. Spy shots gave us a glimpse at the possibilities, but the big SUV at Monterey looks to be production-ready.

Lighting sequences add to the style

This new Infiniti SUV brings extra style and impressive qualities with the new digital piano key design that offers both welcome and farewell animation sequences in the lights. The headlights and daytime running lights are separated, which gave Infiniti the opportunity to create this lighting signature using the DRLs. These lights wrap from the grille to the side of the front bumper to provide the width and height we admire in the QX Monograph. This is just the beginning of what this new luxury SUV brings to the market, offering the perfect blend of style and appearance.

The size is impressive

The new Infiniti QX Monograph appears to be built big enough to take on other full-size three-row luxury SUVs. The size shows up when you look at the profile of this amazing vehicle and see what it brings to the road. The vast monotone greenhouse separates the build from the body, with the top half painted entirely in black. Another tech feature is the set of electric door handles that pop out and create an uninterrupted look all the way down the side. You’ll also see a set of massive wheels under the QX Monograph that make this SUV look amazing.

New paint for a new flagship Infiniti SUV

Infiniti calls the paint color it developed for the concept model brought to Monterey, Akane. This paint is a six-layer paint that glows in the sun to mimic the warm glow of a sunset as it transitions to the dark night sky. Most of the time, this paint looks gray, but when the sun shines right, it brings out the style and look of this impressive high-end luxury SUV. This new paint could be offered as the standard color for the new QX Monograph, but it could also be a new optional color.

Heading to the rear for the finishing look

A look at the back of the new Infiniti QX Monograph brings a set of full-width taillights with a smoked finish design that lights red when they are on. This gives the rear a really cool look. This is the area in which this new Infiniti SUV looks most like the current QX80. This new model brings the top-end look that makes it big and bold from the rear, giving this SUV the build that could be right for large families.

What powers this new SUV?

The biggest question looming over this new Infiniti SUV is the powertrain system. Although Infiniti has been coy about what’s lurking under the hood, there’s no denying that this new model likely has a gas-powered engine. Will the QX Monograph end up as a hybrid or EV? That’s yet to be seen. Unlike Toyota and Lexus, Nissan and Infiniti haven’t embraced as much hybridization in the lineup. Nissan has two EVs in its lineup, which could eventually translate to some of the Infiniti models, but we expect this big SUV to have a gas-powered engine for now.

What’s the target category for this new Infiniti SUV?

This new luxury SUV should compete with the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator, which are both luxury SUVs that offer upscale features and immense size. This new Infiniti high-tech powerplant and impressive cabin bring the comfort and drive desired in a flagship SUV. The former QX80 was pretty impressive, but the new QX Monograph is several steps above the QX80 in terms of style, luxury, and quality.

This new Infiniti SUV should arrive for the 2025 model year. Before then, we should find answers to more of our questions, especially the powertrain question. When this new SUV arrives, it could be the new model that sets a higher position for the brand, bringing amazing Infinity style and engineering to the mix.

Will you look for the new Infiniti QX Monograph to be the full-size luxury SUV you want to drive and enjoy? This could be the big SUV that brings excellence to your driving experience.
