The new Genesis GV60 is an amazing electric SUV and the first offered under this relatively new luxury brand. Could the GV60 be the EV SUV you want to drive?
Although the new GV60 is impressive and packed with luxury qualities, it’s been a bit underrated so far. In the first quarter, only 200 models of the GV60 were sold compared to 1,720 versions of the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 5 shares a platform with the GV60, but the Hyundai has gained a strong following and lots of attention. Should Genesis do more to promote the GV60? Possibly.
Could the build hold the GV60 back?
This new Genesis electric SUV is a high-performing model, but it may face challenges because of its styling. Tis SUV features a large hood and a two-line design that gives this Genesis a strong presence on the road. The crest grille is lower than normal, which aids in cooling the electric components. Could the design give the GV60 an edge, or is it holding the EV back from being successful? The balanced and streamlined look makes this SUV stylish, but it might be a little too much for most buyers.
Technology and design blend well in the GV60
The Genesis GV60 is a captivating SUV with interior dimensions that make it comfortable and appealing. This electric SUV also brings amazing design items, including a crystal sphere where the gear selector is located. When the engine is off, the crystal sphere is visible, but once the electric motors are turned on, the sphere rotates, presenting the gear selector. This gives the GV60 a shift-by-wire system to give you an easy way to choose how you want to drive.
In addition to the design and tech of the crystal sphere, the GV60 features items that ensure you can enjoy the personalized elements of this electric SUV. One such item is the fingerprint authentication system. This system allows the driver to start the GV60 without a key by using only their fingerprint. The seats feature air cells in the inserts to ensure passengers enjoy back and side support while out on the road. These comfortable seats are great for long road trips and come with a stretch mode which allows everyone to control the air cells in their seats.
The driver assist systems protect you
Instead of only warning you of problems, the Genesis GV60 protects you from a collision while driving. The high-end safety features offer constant vigilance and take over when you don’t respond quickly enough to warnings. These driver aids maintain a safe distance from other vehicles at an appropriate speed, and change lanes when the turn signal is activated. The digital side mirrors are connected to the OLED monitor offering a view of activity on either side of the vehicle.
Different models, great driving range
You’ll find two different builds for the GV60, both offering more than enough driving range for several days of commuting. In the Standard AWD model, you’ll have 314 horsepower, 446 lb-ft of torque, and a driving range of 246 miles on a single charge. The Performance AWD model increases torque to 516 lb-ft and still provides 235 miles of electric driving. The power and driving range of this electric luxury SUV strikes a strong balance for consumers looking for a luxury EV but don’t want one with extreme power figures.
Genesis makes charging better
The Genesis GV60 utilizes a 77.4-kWh battery pack which includes fast-charging capabilities. At a Level 3 charger, this SUV can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent in only 18 minutes. You’ll also enjoy a battery conditioning system which preheats the battery and adjust the temperature to preserve driving range during colder weather. The battery recharges overnight when plugged into your Level 2 at-home charger, making it easy to bring this SUV back to full charge while you sleep.
There’s more than enough cargo room
The sloping rear roofline might make some buyers think that the GV60 lacks cargo space, but that’s not the case at all. With all seats in their upright positions, the GV60 provides 25 cu-ft of cargo room for all the gear you want to take with you. If you need more space, the rear seats fold and open up 54.7 cu-ft of cargo room for more gear. Its easy to put everything you need for your daily driving in this luxury electric SUV.
To date, the 2023 Genesis GV60 has been a bit of an underrated electric SUV, but could that change when you see what this luxury EV offers?
