More jobs are opening up at Ford plants around the country, giving more opportunities to auto workers in the Midwest.
This expansion of jobs comes as part of a massive investment to bring more EV models to the market while continuing forward with the gasoline-powered vehicles that we love to drive. This package of new jobs amounts to more than 6,200 new manufacturing jobs in the Midwest which means converting nearly 3,000 temporary workers to become full-time permanent workers. These workers will also receive healthcare benefits starting on the first day of this new change.
Continued Expansion Builds on the Number of Jobs
Ford is the top employer of hourly autoworkers and with this $3.7 billion investment more people can go to work for this company than ever before. Not only will this company create up to 6,200 new union manufacturing jobs in Michigan, Ohio, and Missouri, but this new investment will also create about 74,000 indirect new jobs in America. This change happens right away and by the end of 2026 these jobs will be filled because more suppliers will be providing products to the blue oval brand to help increase the number of vehicles on the road.
The Workplace Environment Improves
One of the toughest things for working Americans to secure is healthcare benefits. Temporary workers are never offered this benefit, but those temp jobs that are converted to full-time permanent positions at Ford will have this benefit on the first day of permanent employment. Ford will invest $1 billion over five years to improve the overall environment in the work place in the various manufacturing plants across the Midwest. This improvement offers workers a better place to go every day, which can be a serious source of pride for many workers.
The Strategy to Build More EVs
The investment in these new jobs will be a movement forward in the Ford+ strategy to produce 2 million new EVs per year by the end of 2026. The new Ford Model e will serve as the portfolio for the company to strengthen their position in the EV market. This movement forward also includes the variety of gas-powered vehicles offered with the Ford name on them. These new jobs will aid in the movement to build more vehicles and creates a plan to move forward and offer the future electric models we expect to proliferate the market.
Ford Is Moving Electric Into the Commercial Vehicle Market
The Ford Pro customer base will become the basis for the all-new electric commercial vehicles market for this company. These models produced in Ohio will begin to arrive in the middle of the decade with plans to expand the Ford plant later next year. The all-new global Mustang coupe and Range models offered in North America will be built in Michigan and the F-150 Lightning is also coming to the Michigan plant. The Transit and new all-electric E-Transit will find production and assembly in Missouri. As you can see, Ford is taking the Midwest by storm with new vehicles coming out of the plants where these new jobs are located.
