Stellantis and CA Consumer Finance have launched a long-term, European-style leasing venture, the shares of which rose 8 percent on its first day of trading. Stellantis is the world’s fourth-largest auto conglomerate and manufactures Dodge Ram 1500 and Dodge Charger/Challenger, among other brands.
A True European Venture
Stellantis was formed in January 2021 from the merger of FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) and the French Groupe PSA. Today, the American brands’ Dodge, Ram, and Chrysler fall under the aegis of Stellantis North America. According to Markets Insider, the Stellantis/CA Consumer partnership aims to establish a true European force in leasing, with an objective of managing more than 1 million vehicles by 2026. Stellantis began publicly trading in the United States in January 2019.
In addition to its joint venture with Stellantis, CA Consumer Finance aims to establish a stand-alone European multi-brand automotive financing operation, including leasing and mobility. Its objective is to manage 10 billion euros of auto financing, leasing, etc., by 2026 by focusing on auto dealerships, leasing businesses, and others.
A Strong North American Presence
Stellantis is well established in the North American market, having made several notable leaps forward in recent years. In addition to the Ram 1500 and other Ram models, Stellantis owns the SRT group, known for having developed such sporty, high-performance vehicles as the Dodge Viper, Dodge Challenger SRT® Hellcat, the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, and the Dodge Durano SRT. Stellantis also owns the well-known after-sale brand Mopar.
Top-Quality Pickup Truck Maker
Ram scored at the very top of J.D. Power’s 2021 Initial Quality Study, affirming its popularity and reliable performance in the prosperous light to the mid-weight truck market segment and placing Stellantis at the forefront of this competitive category. The J.D. Power study is considered a prestigious and important standard for the automotive industry as it surveys new-vehicle owners within their first 90 days of ownership.
Ram 1500 trucks are manufactured at the Warren Truck Assembly plant in Warren, Michigan. Ram vehicles are also manufactured at plants in Europe and South America. The Ram 1500 offers an impressive selection of powerful engines, ranging from 260 to 702 hp, with a payload of up to 2,300 pounds. The Ram 1500 was named North American Truck of the Year in 2019 by a panel of automotive experts.
Proud Legacy, Bright Future
Currently, Ram continues to be a core brand for the automotive giant, a vehicle known for rugged performance, refined looks, and the latest in ride-enhancing tech features. A Stellantis media release from September 2021 promoted the Ram 1500 as a “benchmark” for durability, performance, technology, and more.
The Ram 1500 TRX is regarded as one of the industry’s fastest and most powerful mass-produced half-ton pickup trucks. Its legacy of success and combination of European technical expertise and rugged American design continues to make it one of the best-selling pickup trucks in its class.
Quality Across Dozens of Brands
Stellantis’ impressive performance as an automaker (it has received acclaim for quality across its many brands) and its merger with CA Consumer Finance has helped create a global powerhouse in the worldwide automotive market. Automotive experts note that Stellantis has improved its overall design quality markedly over the past five years and that its joint venture with CA Consumer Finance promises even better things to come.
