If you still had questions as to whether or not the Ford Bronco would actually be offered in the future, Ford has answered them. The brand will begin production of the new SUV that will wear the name we know and love during the 2020 calendar year. Production will begin at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne and this new SUV will be added to a lineup that will be void of sedans or other cars (except the Mustang) for the foreseeable future. This new model will be advanced and certainly carry a name that it needs to live up to.
A Name We Love Returns
It was a sad day when the Ford team announced the Bronco would no longer be built after it had been on the market for thirty years. The Bronco first showed up in 1966 and was built at the Metro Detroit factory during the entire time it was offered in the past. The previous version of the Bronco was a lot different from the Ford Ranger pickup truck, but this new model will tap into the Ranger platform, which should give us a good idea of the size this new truck will offer.
A Factory Investment
When Ford announced it was ready to bring back the Ranger we rejoiced. When they started sharing rumors that the Bronco could also be part of the plans, we were ecstatic. The Wayne plant has been the recipient of an $850 million investment to retool the factory to be able to produce both models alongside each other. While we don’t have many details regarding this new Bronco, we do expect it to be similar to the Bronco of old and be a model that can directly compete with the Jeep Wrangler.
The Expected Focus
While the details of this new SUV are scarce right now, if this SUV is expected to have the Wrangler as its target, it will be a four-door SUV that offers a removable roof and solid axles in front and back. This vehicle should show us a boxy look and stand up tall and ready to be a great model to drive. You’ll love what this SUV brings when it’s offered, especially if the Ford team hits it out of the park like they did with the Ranger that will be offered as part of the next model year.
Expect the Powertrain
The new Ford Bronco could be offered with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that makes 270 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque while being attached to a ten-speed automatic transmission. Of course, that’s the current powertrain that will be offered in the Ranger and by the time the Bronco arrives, it could be even better than it is right now. Get excited, get pumped, the new Bronco will arrive sooner than you might expect as it enters production in 2020 and will be offered soon after that for the drive you want to enjoy on and off the road.
