In most of the automotive world, the engines and power plants being offered are getting smaller, not larger. That might not stop the Audi team from adding a massive engine for the power offered in the A8 that will be offered and will return wearing the Horch name as well. Horch will likely be the equivalent for Audi to what Maybach is for Mercedes-Benz. Audi will, however, not make the same mistakes as Mercedes-Benz and will offer the Horch name as a trim level and not a sub-brand of the parent name.
Which Version of the A8 will Wear the Horch Badge?
The name that we admire from Audi for the highest level of power and luxury will be offered on the A8 that will likely have the power of a W12 engine under the hood. This is the current plan, but there have also been rumors that the Horch name might be applied to a V8 model of this car if Audi doesn’t offer the W12. Regardless of the power plant for the car, this model will be one that brings in the highest level of features and qualities for the drive.
Special Driving for You
The new Horch Audi A8 will be a high content version with special wheels, badging and much more for the drive you want to make if you’re part of the executive level of your company. While we already know this new version of the A8 could be offered in the near future, the fact is, you’ll have to wait until the new A8 is refreshed. Audi has announced this model won’t be offered until this new and updated vehicle will make its way to the market for us to have the drive with the luxury desired.
Where did the Horch Name Come From?
The Audi brand, which was founded many years ago, brought four different companies together under one name to being to build vehicles and share information. Horch was one of the four original companies and was a luxury manufacturer between 1900 and 1940. This company was first launched by August Horch, but trouble with the CFO eventually pushed Horch out of his own company. He then used the Latin version of his name, which is Audi, and began to build luxury models with partnerships from three other companies to bring the technology and luxury together.
Horch May Return for Audi
While the Audi Auto Union, which is what the four companies were brought together to form originally, used Horch’s Zwickau plant to handle the racing duties, the name has a special place in the racing world and in luxury cars. This is where the famous Grand Prix cars were first created which inspired the Rosemeyer concept that later inspired the R8. Now, we may see the Horch name used for the Audi A8 and it will be the top trim level that’s made to be a car built for the top executives around the world.
