Even though the thought of building EV models doesn’t always have the goal of being so silent they could be used for spy vehicles; that is certainly an idea that could work if the cars are quick enough. The Tesla Model S has proved that electric models can be fast as it set several records at the track with its instant torque and amazing performance. Now that we have more affordable EV models, this question arises once again and the Chevrolet Bolt EV is the car that has been chosen to show off and give us an idea of what you can experience in this EV at the track.
Here are some things you’ll learn and love when you take the Bolt EV to the track:
Instant Torque –One of the most amazing side effects of what’s offered in an EV model is the fact that you don’t have to spool up to have the torque you need. The entirety of the torque is available to you right from the start. In the Bolt EV, that is 266 lb.-ft. of torque to propel the car on the track to the speed you want in a hurry. The Bolt can make it to sixty mph in only 6.5 seconds on its way to the top speed of 92 mph.
Lots of Fun –If you take this car out to be put up against others in an autocross challenge, this impressive and amazing car is one that offers you the power and the fun you want for the drive. This car is balanced and an excellent vehicle to allow you to toss it around the turns and have a great time. The low center of gravity makes it easy to feel the control and enjoy the stiff ride that feels perfect when you head out on the track for the drive.
Squealing Tires –Just look at the Bolt EV; it appears to be a simple, subdued, and underwhelming model for you to drive. Even so, once you turn off the traction control, you’re going to hear the tires squealing when you take this car to the track and take the corners with hard sliding turns that allow you to drive aggressive and have a lot of fun. You won’t have any engine noise to interrupt your enjoyment of the tires making their noise for you.
Keeping Up –One of the most used vehicles at many autocross events is the Volkswagen GTI, but when put against the Chevrolet Bolt with the instant torque, the GTI wasn’t quite as much fun as this little EV. Driving around a small track, the difference in times to finish a lap were extremely close to each other because the GTI has to spool up where the Bolt is able to take off and get crazy right away.
Range to Get You Home –You can take the Bolt EV out for a fun ride around the track and even though you’ll use up more of the battery charge than you would during normal driving, you’re still going to have plenty of range to get you home. The range of the Bolt EV is 238 miles, which is the most for an EV of this price. This makes the Bolt a choice that can be a lot of fun at the informal and amateur autocross events in your area.
Take it for a Ride –the Chevrolet Bolt EV could be called a sleeper if you want, but the fact that it’s an EV with an excellent range makes it the perfect choice for fun driving that you can have out on the smaller tracks if you want. There could easily be a segment just for the EV models to race around the track, but the Bolt is capable of allowing you to have a lot of fun from behind the wheel while doubling as your daily ride.
