Small Roads Led to Small Creativity in the Brutsch Mopetta

The European world is considered the old world and it was built with cities and towns that had tiny streets that were passable on foot and by a single horse in some cases. While we don’t typically ride horses for transportation, these small streets survived even today to become the streets that we know and admire but have to be able to travel at times. We know that many of the cars on the roads in this area of the world are small and barely make it around a city or out into the country, there are some that have been built even smaller like the Brutsch Mopetta.

The little city cars that have become part of the European landscape are many and are varied, but not always as attractive as what one company brought to the market. The city cars we’ve admired typically look a lot like a Peel P50 which is a small boxy cabin that makes it easy to see how it can get around, but if you had to consider one that is fun and active on the road while also being attractive, the Brutsch Mopetta is one you can take a look at.

What is the Brutsch Mopetta?

This little car is designed for the driving of a vehicle that appears to be a moped that has three wheels. Its egg-shaped and a micro-car that has the space for one single person to drive. The steering is done with a set of handlebars and a single center seat much like a moped. Inside you won’t find the car amenities you might expect on the market of today including a seatbelt, speedometer, tachometer and fuel gauge which are all missing from the package that you see in this little carlet.

Of course, you don’t drive the Mopetta for the comforts it provides, you drive it to show off something unique and different from what you normally have for the drive. This little three-wheeled car is one that has a tiny engine and makes it fun to head out on the road. As you might expect from the lack of safety and quality features offered, this little carlet was built in 1957 as something that could drive around and maneuver easily on the roads and alleyways of Europe when things get tight where you drive and want to be able to get from one place to another quickly.

With the Mopetta you won’t get stuck in the traffic of full-size four-wheel cars, instead you can weave your way in and out of traffic to show off the fun and active driving you’re going to want to enjoy with this little machine, Even though you’re not likely to find a Mopetta anywhere today, take a look at the video below and see the impressive creativity on a small scale that was offered even in the 1950s when the roads weren’t as littered with cars as they are now; you’ll be amazed by this incredible little three-wheeled machine.
