When the BMW 3 Series received the moniker as the “Ultimate Driving Machine” it was given both a huge compliment and something that’s nearly impossible to be able to achieve continually. Since that time, the 3 Series has been improved and changed in order to be a car that is an amazing vehicle to drive on a daily basis or when you take it out to the track. Different variations of this car make it possible for you to have the driving experience that’s right for you to head out for what you want for the drive.
As we look toward a new generation for the venerable car, the 2019 version of the 3 Series will be one that should quickly become a class leader once again. The new version of the BMW 3 Series will be built on a shared platform with the 5 and 7 Series which is the new CLAR platform which allows the new 3 Series to have an upgraded look and more of the features that we want to see in a car that can be the one that we love to drive every day that we head out on the road.
Spied and Standing Tall
The new BMW 3 Series has been spied testing in the Scandinavian area on the snowy test courses around Sweden. When you consider the upgrades that should be shown for the new 3 Series, the first thing that comes to mind is how this new CLAR platform will affect this car. This car will lose nearly 88 pounds from the weight in order to allow this to be a more agile form of the 3 Series than what we’ve seen in the past. Choose this car and let it be the one that can be an excellent choice for your driving pleasure.
In addition to being lighter on its feet, the sedan will also be longer than in the past with the wheelbase stretched a bit to offer more legroom for the passengers that are in the backseat of the car. There may also be more trunk space when you need to take stuff with you. The styling offered during testing hints at a smaller version of the 4 Series, which makes perfect sense as this new car receives some of the upgrades that we want to see when it’s time to head out for a drive.
At the launch of this new version of the 3 Series, we expect to see the M340i making use of a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine with 340 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque. There may even be a pair of hybrid variations to this car and even an EV model that could be added to the mix in order to give us some new 3 Series models to enjoy. More news will arrive as we see when and where this new 3 Series will be offered for the experience we want to have when it’s time to head out on the road.
