We know the Ford Ranger is making its way back to the market of North America to be the midsize truck you’re sure to love.
This new pickup truck will be the first time in several years that Ford has entered the midsize pickup truck market to give us a vehicle that we want to drive when we need to haul or carry items but don’t want to look to the full-size truck market for the job and now we see a new version may be in the works.
A New Model of the Ranger Emerges
The 2019 Ford Ranger Wildtrak is a pickup truck that’s been tested on the roads in the US but it hasn’t been confirmed as a model that will actually be offered for sale in North America yet. This is one instance where I certainly hope Ford isn’t teasing us and will give us the new Ranger Wildtrak to drive and experience on the roads in North America. this version of the truck is already on sale in other parts of the world including Australia, and having it in the US will mean a more competitive model in this market.
What Will the Ford Ranger Wildtrak Bring?
The Australian model of this Ranger is fitted with a 12V plug in the bed, a retractable tonneau cover, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a suspension lift. There’s also some amazing styling and accents to improve the interior and exterior of the Ranger. While this is a model that hasn’t been confirmed for the US market, much like the Ford Ranger Raptor that has been spotted as well on the roads performing the tests needed.
What Will a New Off-Road Ford Ranger Look Like
The new off-road models of the Ranger have been discussed, but might be right for you to enjoy the ride on the road. There’s a possibility the new Wildtrak will be changed to offer a name we know and understand better than what we’ve seen in the market recently. The new name may be FX4 which is what we’ve become used to and it brings in the basic off-road package that’s offered in the F-150. Will we see this name or one of the others when the Ranger is offered as an off-road machine? That’s certainly hard to tell right now but could easily become what we find out in the near future from this brand.
Different Power for this Ranger
The photos we’ve seen of the Wildtrak show us a truck that’s right-hand drive and uses a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged diesel engine that makes 211 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque for the power needed. We’re not sure whether there will be a diesel engine offered for the US version of the Ranger, but that’s another discussion for the future as well. For now, we can’t wait to see the new Ranger on the market and hope this will be a truck that will be fitted with some impressive off-road capability for the future of the midsize truck market that we love to enjoy.
