Toyota is everywhere we look with sponsorships that span the globe and make it a company that’s involved in nearly every area of our lives. Every year we expect to have impressive ads from Toyota during the Super Bowl, and they continue to deliver the goods during the game to give us a look at a variety of ways they want to share their message with us while we experience the biggest game of the year. With all eyes on the game and the ads being presented, the expectation is that we will be entertained and informed even during breaks in the game.
This year, Toyota made use of their three spots during the tame to talk about a message of handling things that may have seemed impossible at one time along with the feeling of going places with friends, even if they are an unlikely sort. This car brand did an excellent job of mixing the thought-provoking with the directly amusing to let us feel and experience the message we want to see and enjoy when being entertained by a short advertisement for a car company.
The Commercials and the Messages
The first of the three commercials that aired during the tame from Toyota took place shortly after the kickoff and it’s titled “ Good Odds”. As you watch this commercial you see the odds meter running downward as we learn and see highlights of a real-life story of Canadian Alpine Skier Lauren Woolstencroft who competes in the Olympic and Paralympic games and has won a variety of medals along the way. This is a message of hope and of changing the odds in your favor with grit, hard work, and perseverance to become whatever you want to be in your life.
The second ad was shown to use just after the Halftime Report and before the halftime show and it’s also a sixty-second spot that gave us a look at a team that seems to be made up of an odd group. While this ad appears to be a new take on an old joke (a priest, a rabbi, and a minister walk into a bar…) it shows a group of religious leaders who all come together to attend and cheer for their team together. Of course, they ride to the game in the Toyota Tundra to be able to enjoy the fun of the game.
Third, and the final spot that Toyota offered for the game showed up in the second half. This thirty-second spot showed people from all stages of life including several world renowned Olympic and Paralympic athletes that have been celebrated over time. This add showed off the mobility that Toyota is working towards as they look to change the minds of many from being just a car company to one that is mobility company with several different offerings to help people be able to get where they need to when they need to go anywhere.
Take a look at all three of these ads that were offered during the game by Toyota, and think once again about the feeling and the joy found by those airing in the ads that come together with the support of Toyota.
