The tuning partner of Mercedes-Benz is turning fifty this year and with that, we’re looking back to admire some of the impressive models that have come from the Mercedes-AMG partnership. As a brand that has been turned to for the amazing performance you want for the drive on the tracks around the world, it’s time for a look back at some of the most amazing models that have come down the line. Here are the ones that have been rated as the coolest ones produced over the years.

Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.8 – This was one of the first models that AMG was allowed to touch from Mercedes-Benz and touch it they did. This car was nicknamed the Red Sow or Red Pig and it was powered by a 423 horsepower V8 engine that was ready to take to the race track. This car took first place in its class and second overall at the 24 Hours of Spa.

Mercedes 300E 6.0 “The Hammer” – Taking this mid-range model and upgrading it with AMG items made it one that could offer the exceptional power desired for the drive. This beauty packed in a massive 6.0-liter engine to offer up 380 horsepower and have the ability to reach sixty mph in five seconds even as far back as 1987, making this an impressive model.

Mitsubishi Galant AMG – Not all AMG models came from Mercedes and this upgraded model from Mitsubishi is an amazing version of the Galant that was offered as one of the coolest cars for the drive. There were two special versions made with this partnership, but this was the one that was certainly the more impressive of the two.

Mercedes R63 AMG – This is a model that is actually a minivan that was made by Mercedes and offered as a vehicle that could be the right choice for you to have the drive you’re looking for. If you wanted a family vehicle that would give you the drive you’re looking for this one gives the power of 503 horses and 465 lb.-ft. of torque to have the drive you want.

Mercedes SLK 55 AMG – Not only did AMG work on large machines and have plenty of space for the big engines they used, they also stuffed large engines into smaller models for the drive. This version uses a 5.5-liter V8 that could offer serious power of as much as 415 horsepower for the drive to make it a car that would reach sixty mph in less than 4.1 seconds.

Mercedes SL 73 AMG – This long and sleek coupe is one that showed why so many models from Mercedes needed to have a long hood. This car was powered by a 7.3-liter V12 to give you 518 horsepower and 553 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is still around today and is found in the Pagani models but it started under the hood of this SL 73 AMG.

Mercedes CLK GTR AMG – When AMG was brought into the mix the true purpose of what this partnership was created for was racing. This amazing car competed in the FIA GT Championship and it won two team championships and two driver’s championships that eventually became a road version as well to give us the drive that was amazing for the ride.

Mercedes CLK DTM AMG and CLK 63 AMG Black Series – The CLK coupe was offered from 1997 until 2009 and is the coolest versions of this car to make sure we could have limited-edition models that are a lot of fun on the road. This pair makes insane power with supercharged V8 engines under the hood to make sure you can have the drive and the fun you want.

Mercedes SLS AMG – This is the first car to be considered as one that was completely built in-house by AMG. This car has a long hood, short deck, gullwing doors and carried the aggressive performance throughout the appearance to make sure you could have a drive that’s amazing for you to have what you want on the track.

Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 – If there’s one model that showed off the way the AMG team could take a vehicle over the top, this was the one. As a big SUV that has six wheels, this massive brute can go anywhere and handle everything offered for the drive you need to make when you want to get out on the roads and trails for the fun you’re looking for.
