Keeping Up With the Neighbors: Aston Martin

Keeping Up With the Neighbors

While it’s an old thought process, born from when neighbors spent a lot of time together, the idea that you need to have similar or better equipment and items of your own than your neighbor is a competitive nature we can all relate to. This feeling and development makes its way to the automotive industry in the form of the variety of competing models that we see on the market. The question of which brands and which models you want to drive is one that’s as old as the automotive industry itself. Because automakers like Aston Martin feel like they have to keep up with each other, we have the pleasure of many different choices in each class.

The Competition at the Top

Recently we were introduced to the new Aston Martin hypercar that’s already sold out and is taking the world by storm. The new Valkyrie is a model that has a Formula 1 hybrid powertrain and promises to be one of the fastest, most exclusive and rarest models on the market. This car and its immediate success have spurned some competition from one of the most prominent automakers in the world, creating a competition we’re sure to love.

Mercedes-AMG has given us a sneak peek at their newest creation that will be able to compete with the Valkyrie. This new car is called the Project One and it will make its way to the stage in Frankfurt for the Motor Show. This new car will have its own version of the Formula One hybrid powertrain to make sure those who are able to pay for and drive this car will have the performance they want. This new high-performance hybrid powertrain will have over 1,000 horsepower and a top speed of over 217 mph making it a car that will offer an insane amount of fun.

Other than the immense power offered we know the new Project One will be a car that is a two-seater hypercar that uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 engine that’s mid-mounted. This engine partners up with four electric motors to bring the boost of the power to the 1,000 horsepower number. This new Mercedes-AMG product will be limited to only 275 models that will need to be serviced every 30,000 miles, which might be a number some of these cars never reach. We’ve seen the rear end of the car with a teaser photo and look forward to what it will bring to the market when we see it in Frankfurt.

The Collector’s Dream

There’s no doubt that competition has to be the dream of collectors that love to have the cars they want to drive in their collection. It’s likely that most of the people who were able to purchase the new Aston Martin Valkyrie are going to be the same ones who are able to put the money on the line for the new Mercedes- AMG Project One and have one of each model in their collection for the fun and the enjoyment of admiring these cars. Hopefully, most of these modes won’t end up left in the collections that never get driven. Look for these new cars to hit the tracks in the future to show us just what this amazing car can do.
